About coastal black estate winery

We are a budding fruit winery, situated on just over 800 acres, nestled at the base of Mt. Washington, on the outskirts of the beautiful Comox Valley. Our family farm is made up of four generations living and working together, to produce a product of the highest standard. Whether it be our production of wine, whole fruit, raw honey, or custom milled lumber. Because of our large family, and insistence of good quality, we do all possible work ourselves. Our blackberries are grown on site; spread over 80 acres, thus making us the largest cultivated blackberry farm in all of Canada. We handle all pollinating in the Vineyard with our own bees, which also provides us with our unique signature blackberry honey as well as our fine selection of Meads.

We also have 20 acres of both blueberries and raspberries. These berries add to our fruit wine selection. In all of our operations we strive for organic practices and preservation of the land, air and waterways. In areas where we require a few more hands, we employ a crew of laborers out of Mexico. They live here on site for seven months of the year and are always an anticipated addition to the spring work force. The start up of our winery has come with the close down of our dairy operation. It has been a big change, as we dairy farmed on this land from 1991 to 2009.

As a family we decided it was time for a change, and when it came right down to it we simply prefer wine over milk. One of our main goals as a winery is to be very interactive with our customers. Please check our regular news updates and feel free to give us your comments and thoughts as we progress through this start up phase.

14 He makes grass grow for the cattle,
and plants for man to cultivate—
bringing forth food from the earth:
15 wine that gladdens the heart of man,
oil to make his face shine,
and bread that sustains his heart.
Psalm 104:14-15
